Final Look at Ballerina Shows Ballet and Brutality Collide

We92re now just three weeks away from the theatrical release of From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, the Ana de Armas93starring spin-off from the popular franchise that promises to deliver a familiar and fresh hit of ass-kicking action. In the buildup to its June 6, 2025, release, Lionsgate has just released the final trailer 94 and it does not disappoint.

Set during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 93 Parabellum, Ballerina picks up as the High Table has branded John 9cexcommunicado9d for killing crime lord Santino D99Antonio on Continental Hotel property. On the run and with a multi-million dollar bounty on his head, Wick travels across New York looking for help and eventually finds his way to the Ruska Roma crime syndicate.

Directed by the enigmatic and powerful Director (played by Anjelica Huston), the Ruska Roma welcomed the assassin and put him on the path of revenge against those who killed him. They were also home to an elite group of trained ballerina-assassins that served as the Director99s prot99g99s. Parabellum briefly featured a young ballerina dancing on stage during a rehearsal (played by Unity Phelan), and now she99s the main character in Ballerina, with Ana de Armas set to star.

In addition to Phelan and Huston, many of the other characters from John Wick and Chapter 3 93 Parabellum will return in Ballerina, including Ian McShane reprising his role as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel. Sadly, this marks the late Lance Reddick99s final appearance in a John Wick installment as Charon, the Continental99s omnipresent and ever-capable concierge. The actor, who died in March 2023, had played the role in every John Wick film except the first.

On top of the returning cast members, Lionsgate also confirmed several new additions to the film99s cast. Gabriel Byrne has been revealed as the Chancellor, the main antagonist of the film, who will have an entire town after Eve. Sharon Duncan-Brewster joins as Nogi, Eve99s mentor, while Norman Reedus also appears as Daniel Pine. Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Casta91eda are also on the cast list, but the roles remain unconfirmed for the time being.

A Revenge Story with Signature Wick Moves

The first official trailer for Ballerina was released in September 2024, and it gave fans a closer look at the early life of Eve. As shown in several clips, she lost her family as a young child and decided to join the Ruska Roma to avenge her father99s death. Killed by an unknown murderer, Eve grew up and trained as an elite assassin in hopes of finding and killing whoever was responsible for her father99s murder. This first trailer had hinted at a darker and more intimate story than other John Wick installments, with only a brief appearance by Reeves.

In contrast, the second trailer gave fans more of what they wanted, showing a key scene between de Armas and Reeves as the two assassins meet in a snowy, shadowed world. From what we99ve seen so far in the two previous trailers, there99s less mystery about this Ballerina. Instead, the film will feature a significant amount of screen time for both Eve and Wick, as well as a connection between the two of them in their efforts to survive.

The final trailer comes in harder, with a much more aggressive and less emotional tone. It starts with the image of Eve staring up while lying in John Wick99s sights, her back facing the camera. It then cuts to a blur of movement, showing both new and previously released footage that together make up a blistering montage of fighting, gunplay, and vicious choreography. Taken together, the sequences spotlight Ana de Armas99 physical performance and dedication to the role as she dispatches enemy after enemy in a distinctively balletic style of violence.

In one scene, we also get a better sense of Eve99s motivation as the reason for her actions is made clear to us, and her objective: revenge. During the fight, de Armas utters the ominous line 94 This isn99t done until they99re dead.94 It99s a proclamation that both sums up the nature of her vengeance and speaks to the ethos of the John Wick universe as a whole, where revenge is done, and nothing less.

Yet what makes Ballerina different from previous entries in the series is its emphasis on pushing into new territory while still respecting the tone of the films that came before. The choreography and action remain tightly choreographed and sharply staged, the visuals sleek and stylish, and the world-building just as detailed and dense with the complex mythology of its predecessor films. This time, however, it99s through the eyes of a female assassin whose journey is given center stage against the same underworld that Wick calls home.

Interwoven into the story without taking center stage is Keanu Reeves99 John Wick, and if the final trailer is any indication, Ballerina will expand the franchise99s potential while allowing Ana de Armas to shine. Audiences can expect to see a mix of character-focused moments and big, spectacle-laden sequences, which have been crucial to the John Wick series99 longevity.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina steps into theaters on June 6, 2025, and is expected to showcase both grace and brutality in the same breath. For fans of the franchise, it99s another chance to see the stylish, violent, and surprisingly emotive underworld in a whole new light.
